Australian Cinematographers Society awards Iran’s ‘Layers of Lies’

The Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) has awarded Iranian feature film ‘Layers of Lies’.

The Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) has awarded Iranian feature film ‘Layers of Lies’.

The Australian society has bestowed its Best Cinematograph award to Mark Hobson for filming ‘Layers of Lies’, written and directed by Ramin Sohrab.

Mark Hobson also known as "Mark Hobz" is a cinematographer and producer, who began his career in photography and video editing in Australia for local bands in the Sydney area.

In 2021 Mark was awarded gold for cinematography by the ACS Australian Cinematography Society, for his work on the film "Edge Made of the UAE" with New Zealand Director Rory Mcloughlin.

Layers of Lies’ directed by Ramin Sohrab, is a coproduction of Iran, the US and Finland.

Ramin Sohrab, Nader Fallah, Arman Darvish, Kamran Tafti, Arsalan Ghasemi, Venus Kanelli and Roshanak Gerami star in the film.

The director of ‘Layers of Lies’ told the media: “The risk of making an action movie in Iran is high and I do not know how people will react, but I have tried to make an action movie according to international standards. I hope ‘Layers of Lies’ will be the beginning of making more action movies in Iran.”
